F1 Esports Returns for 2nd Season

F1 aficionados and sim racers can rejoice as the second season of Formula 1’s Esports series has been announced.

In 2017 commercial rights owners of F1, Liberty Media, welcomed Esports to F1 paddock with the launch of the F1 Esports series in partnership with F1 game creators Codemasters and Esports company, GFinity.

The second season of the highly anticipated series has been rejigged with participants now able to compete for a sport on official Esports teams of Mercedes, Red Bull Racing, Williams, Renault, Haas F1, McLaren, Toro Rosso, Alfa Romeo Sauber, or Force India.

This year’s series has also changed in format by being split into two parts. Qualifying rounds will dominate the first half of the season with gamers from around the world competing for a coveted top 40 spot. These drivers will continue on to the Pro Draft stage in the second half of the season.  The first four rounds of qualifying will commence on April 13 and will include all gaming platforms.

The ten fastest drivers from each platform will compete in the final, live streamed, event with the top three drivers advancing to the Pro Draft.

“Codemasters is extremely proud to be involved in the F1 Esports Series,” says Codemasters CEO Frank Sagnier. “The quality of the racing we saw during last year’s series was spectacular and the integration of the teams for the coming season is going to take the competition and its promotion to the next level”.

The second season of the F1 Esports Series promises to be bigger, better, and more exhilarating that its predecessor – do not miss it!
